August 2016 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box Review
Y’all it’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box reveal day, and August’s box was a homerun! If this is the first time you’re hearing about this rad subscription service, it’s a monthly beauty box ($22.95/month with free shipping) that delivers 4-7 vegan and cruelty-free items (ranging from unique cosmetics to luxurious skincare) right to your doorstep. It’s the easiest way to discover cruelty-free brands without committing to full-size products or prices. You can sign up for this beauty box here. You can also peep my past Vegan Cuts Beauty Box reviews here.
August’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box included:
Yes to Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Facial Wipes,* $5.99 – I use facial wipes every single night when I’m taking off my makeup (they’re up there, with the invention of bread!). This is the first time I’ve seen ones made with activated charcoal – me gusta (and they’re all Lord Voldemort black, which is a trip, but I do wish the ingredients were a little cleaner/more all-natural!). These detoxifying wipes are supposed to be great for acne-prone skin, btw.
derma e Purifying Daily Detox Scrub,* $2 – Ooh, another goodie with activated charcoal! I actually have the full size of the baby, and it’s in my current rotation of beauty products. In addition to activated charcoal, it’s made with seaweed, green tea, and apricot seed powder – it gives a lovely gentle exfoliation.
Deco Miami Dual Top/Base Coat, $12.50 – Ain’t gonna lie, I was a teensy bit bummed that I didn’t get a colored polish. I have SO many top/base coats already (my faves being the thick, gel-like ones), it’s redonk. This polish is 8-free, vegan, cruelty-free, and it lives in the most adorable packaging evah!
Pacifica Color Quench Lip Tint in Vanilla Hibiscus, $7 – This lip tint has a yummy, sweet vanilla-y scent, which I love, but it doesn’t have much color payoff. I tried to swatch it on my hand but it didn’t really show up. It’s got a subtle hint of shimmer and it’s mega moisturizing since it’s made with avocado oil and vitamin E. I’ve been using this more of like a lip balm.
Green & Gorgeous Organics Organic Dry Shampoo Powder in Lavender & Bergamot,* $7.99 – I live for dry shampoo. When people ask me how I keep my hair so vibrantly pink (which I get asked often), I credit it all to dry shampoo. This one is totally adorbs (seriously, how CUTE is it!?), and it has a really pretty and light floral scent to it.
Adorn Cosmetics Mineral Loose Illuminiser Sample, $5 – Ooh, this shimmery, light reflecting highlighter is GORG! I wish it came as a pressed powder, though, because it’s hard to apply when it’s all loose. Pic below includes a couple of snaps I took on *pause, wait for it* Snapchat… I’m finally on there and in full swing (@veganbr). Isn’t this swatch mesmerizing?
*faves from this month’s box
Overall impression: Everything together is valued at $40.50, which is pretty awesome! It was a lovely mix of skin care, makeup, and hair care. Box faves: the activated charcoal face wipes and facial scrub and the pretty smelling dry shampoo. I’ll definitely be using every single item in this month’s box – WIN!
